My Calls
Bavarian Contest Club
CN8WW
Norfolk Island 2007 Welcome

at the virtual hamradio shack of Jörg, DL8WPX. Born in 1960, I'm an active and licensed hamradio amateur since October 1983 and I'm a member of the german Deutscher Amateur Radio Club (DARC e.V.), local division Schkeuditz (near Leipzig - DOK S41).

I'm rather seldom QRV in Germany and have also no home station here, thank's to my many, many business trips and longterm assignments abroad. My "home station" is currently located in my house in Bandung / Indonesia.

I'm married and if time permits, I stay as often as possible at home in Bandung on Java / Indonesia, together with my lovely wife Dewi and our three under-aged children.

Main Interests

If you're looking for me on the bands, I'm mainly active in shortwave contests and like DXing - yet, mainly from the other end of the pile-up. Due to various longterm business assignments abroad I'm able to be on air from many different countries, often in CW or various digital modes. I made a lot of friends in the Bavarian Contest Club and together we've done some very interesting contest activities. Sure, the best of all were my five trips to Morocco in 1999 and 2000, our activities as CN8WW resulting in one world record (Multi-Single) in the WAEDC-SSB and two world records in both of the CQ-WWDX contests (Multi-Multi). In addition, starting from 1989 I've participated at several DXpeditions. Additional information can be found here.

Technically I'm mainly interested in ionospheric propagation phenomena. Especially on the lowbands (160m / 80m) you often can observe the most interesting things. In addition I'm working on antenna designs (design, build and practical test) and I'm very curious about everything related to Software-Designed-Radio (SDR). Working as a professional software developer, from time to time I like to develop software according to my own ideas. Thus, I've prepared a package for the WAEDC-committee, needed for the processing of contest logs. This software is now heavily in use for file conversion tasks. I also did some editorial work on the latest DARC-standard for contest logdata (STF). In September 2004 I've published an article about contest logdata formats and their standardization in the German hamradio magazine "CQ DL".

The latest information is always available in the News section. Any QSL information for all my private calls can be found here.

Contact Information

If you can't catch me on shortwave, you can contact me best by electronic mail or fax. I'm often traveling around and, taking different time zones and long hours on airplanes into account, it might be difficult to catch me on the phone.
